Kids Halloween Costumes

Perhaps you haven’t noticed, but we’re a bit excited about our new kids Halloween costumes around here. If you think it’s bad now, just wait, we’re getting more children’s costumes in every day, so you’ll be seeing tons of new ones showing up on the site! And don’t forget to look at the baby costumes, they’re crazy cute and so teeny!

In other news, August is essentially here, and that means the kiddies will be back in school soon. Before everyone gets too busy for family time, I have a great idea for a fun family dinner: crepes! I made them last night, and I have no cooking skills to speak of, so I promise it’s easy and honestly so much fun.

Here’s what you need: 1/2 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of water, 3 eggs, 1 cup of flour, 1/2 tbsp orange flavoring (or you can use a different flavor, you won’t really taste it in the crepe, it just gives it a little hint of flavor so they won’t taste like flour)

Here’s what you do:

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl with a wire wisk, until it’s really runny and aerated.

Using a ladel, pour about three quarters of a ladel-full into a greased pan over the stove (on a low heat setting) and sort of swirl the pan around until the whole bottom is covered in a thin layer of batter.

When the very edges of the crepe begin to brown, use a spatula to flip it over.

Wait just ten seconds or so, then use the spatula to take the crepe out and put it on a plate.

Have your kids decide what toppings they want on each crepe, then they can prepare their own! My favorite is sour cream and salmon, with chives. They might like ham and cheese, or peanut butter, you can put just about anything you want on as a topping. For desert, they taste great with jam, or nutella and bananas, or fruit and whip cream.

Enjoy the kids while they’re still home for summer, and don’t forget to take a look at Sophia’s Style children’s costumes, you could let the kids get a jump start deciding what they want to be this year!

September, October

Girls Halloween Costumes

Fall is on it’s way! I’m so excited! It’s a bit overcast this morning, and for the first time in weeks, the air feels cool and dry instead of hot and heavy, I love it! In just a few short months, every morning will feel like this! Autumn is my favorite season, I love it when the leaves have all changed colors, then all the sudden they start falling so fast, it’s like they’re falling in love with the ground… and then I can go walk through them in a killer pair of boots and wear scarves with every outfit. Oh, September and October, I wish you’d come around more than once a year.

It’s extra easy to get pumped about changing seasons here at Sophia’s Style, we’ve been getting new girls Halloween costumes that are so much fun and so cute. My favorite are these little baby girl Halloween costumes by Le Top that make animal noises when you squeeze the little button sewn into the cuffs!

Stop and check out all our girls dress up clothes, we’ve got a ton of other great costumes, and your girl is sure to find the exact one she wants.

Here are a few pairs that I think belong in every girl’s closet:

This pair of black flats by L’Amour; they’re the perfect combination of girly and practical. These are the sort of shoes that will work with dress up clothes or for daily wear, they’re a wardrobe staple with a twist. We also carry them in white and light pink.

Girls Shoes

These red sneakers by Wee Squeak; every kid ought to own a pair of red sneakers, they’re the epitome of childhood footwear. These are for playing kickball or hide-and-seek in the schoolyard! These are kind of shoes kids have adventures in, she’s going to be wearing them when she brings home bugs in jars, they’ll be on her feet when she does her victory dance on the day you finally agree to let her have a kitten or a puppy. This is the pair of shoes she’ll wear holes in the soles of.

A pair of glittery fuchsia shoes by Luna International; girls like it when things sparkle and shine, particularly when it comes to jewelry and footwear. Enough said.

Halloween Costumes, Make Trick-or-Treating Memories | Sophia’s Style

Girls Dress Up Clothes

Here at Sophia’s Style, we’ve been getting new girls halloween costumes and baby girl halloween costumes in, and they’re so elaborate and perfect!  It’s making me so nostalgic looking at them, I just wish I could be a kid again!
When I was a kid, Halloween was my favorite holiday!  My elementary school teachers always let us wear our costumes to class for the day, and everyone was so anxious to come up with something really great.  The whole day never felt like school, because everything was so much more fun with a costume on!
I lived in a very small town, so on Halloween evenings, my friends and I could go trick-or-treating by ourselves.  We knew all the streets and which neighbors were the coolest (i.e. the most likely to give us good candy).  There was one really creepy house, at the end of a block in the old part of town, where all the roads were still unpaved.  It was this little A-frame painted a dull shade of moss green, and the whole yard was sort of ruddy and patchy and overgrown, and the house was set back from the road so far that it was really more like it was emerging from all the trees behind it.  This super old couple lived there, and they must have known that their house was perfect for halloween, because every year they always had the biggest, most decrepit-looking scarecrow sitting in a rocking chair on the porch.  One year, when I was 10, my friends and I got to this house, and we were all standing on the porch, sort of ignoring the scarecrow since we’d all seen him previous years, and right when I reached for the doorbell, the scarecrow jumped up and yelled at us!

Baby Girls Halloween Costumes

It turned out the old man had decided to wear the scarecrow outfit that year, and none of us had paid enough attention to notice when we were standing right next to him!  He scared the bejeezus out of us, what a clever old man.
Make sure to check out our collection of girls dress up clothes, we’ve got great stuff for all ages, and every kid should have a great costume to be excited about on Halloween!

Dance Leotards for Girls

Girls Leotards
Do you have a little girl taking dance?  I remember when I was, oh, maybe six years old, and my mom had me taking both tap and ballet!  I was never very good (two left feet), but I loved it anyway- and I especially loved the pretty dance clothes.  I used to run around the house all the time in my leotards and tap shoes, it just about drove my big brother mad!
At Sophia’s Style, we’ve got an enormous selection of girls leotards in all different colors and styles.  They’re super cute and very comfortable (I mean it, we’ve got moms working here who buy them for their girls).  We’ve got every shade and cut imaginable, spagetti cross-straps, tank top, cap sleeves, and tutus!  There are solids, sassy animal prints, and cute florals!
Ballet Shoes

Your little dancer will look so sweet twirling around the studio in this angelic little white rosette leotard, paired with pink tights and legwarmers!  And hey, don’t forget the shoes!  We have the most darling selection of girls dance shoes.  I’m a bit obsessed with these fairytale-esque silver ones that are on sale (hooray!).

In fact, sale or not, all of our dancewear prices are remarkably low.  Kids can be expensive, and activities like dance can be budget-breakers if you’re not careful.  You don’t want financial barriers to prevent your children from having opportunities to participate, which is why it’s important to shop smart.  Sophia’s Style sells only the highest quality products and the lowest possible prices.  So have fun finding cute dance clothes for your little diva, without worrying about the cost!

Beautiful Girls Dancewear!

girls-dancewear-9
Girls Dancewear

Anyone who has a little girl taking dance classes knows how nerve-racking her first recital can be, and not just for her, but for parents as well!  I just googled “first dance recital,” and found blog after blog written by moms and dads about their daughter’s first performance.  There are so many adorable photos of little girls all dressed up in bright colored tutus and leotards!
I couldn’t believe how many anxious parents had near-disasters with finding girls dancewear that was comfortable and pretty!  Obviously the costume is important. Dance recitals are a big deal for the whole family, and you want your little ballerina to look and feel like a superstar in her dance clothes! Having a beautiful outfit to wear on stage will help your little girl overcome stage fright and feel like a real performer.  Sometimes it’s hard to remember that she’s just a little girl, and I don’t know about everyone else, but I totally remember how much I hated wearing itchy tights and leotards to ballet!  That’s an enormous distraction when you’re little!

At Sophia’s Style, we have a large selection of girl’s dancewear and girls dance clothes that are high quality and comfortable for girls to wear.  You can find cute clothes for her to wear to her dance classes, and gorgeous outfits for her to wear to her performances, so she can have fun and dance, and you can relax and enjoy the show!
