Perhaps you haven’t noticed, but we’re a bit excited about our new kids Halloween costumes around here. If you think it’s bad now, just wait, we’re getting more children’s costumes in every day, so you’ll be seeing tons of new ones showing up on the site! And don’t forget to look at the baby costumes, they’re crazy cute and so teeny!
In other news, August is essentially here, and that means the kiddies will be back in school soon. Before everyone gets too busy for family time, I have a great idea for a fun family dinner: crepes! I made them last night, and I have no cooking skills to speak of, so I promise it’s easy and honestly so much fun.
Here’s what you need: 1/2 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of water, 3 eggs, 1 cup of flour, 1/2 tbsp orange flavoring (or you can use a different flavor, you won’t really taste it in the crepe, it just gives it a little hint of flavor so they won’t taste like flour)
Here’s what you do:
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl with a wire wisk, until it’s really runny and aerated.
Using a ladel, pour about three quarters of a ladel-full into a greased pan over the stove (on a low heat setting) and sort of swirl the pan around until the whole bottom is covered in a thin layer of batter.
When the very edges of the crepe begin to brown, use a spatula to flip it over.
Wait just ten seconds or so, then use the spatula to take the crepe out and put it on a plate.
Have your kids decide what toppings they want on each crepe, then they can prepare their own! My favorite is sour cream and salmon, with chives. They might like ham and cheese, or peanut butter, you can put just about anything you want on as a topping. For desert, they taste great with jam, or nutella and bananas, or fruit and whip cream.
Enjoy the kids while they’re still home for summer, and don’t forget to take a look at Sophia’s Style children’s costumes, you could let the kids get a jump start deciding what they want to be this year!
